Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

AHCTRF204A - Support turf establishment

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Prepare to establish a planted area

  1. The planting site , planting methods and turf plant species and cultivars are identified according to the site plan and enterprise work procedures.
  2. Materials, tools, equipment and machinery are selected according to planted area design requirements and enterprise work procedures.
  3. Pre-operational and safety checks are carried out on tools, equipment and machinery according to manufacturers specifications and enterprise work procedures.
  4. The environmental implications of the turf establishment program are identified and the likely outcomes assessed and reported to the supervisor.
  5. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) hazards are identified, risks assessed and reported to the supervisor.
  6. Suitable safety and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is selected, used and maintained.
